As a completely new constructed area the Bekkelagsbadet Park wedges itself respecfully in between and functions as a bufferzone between the residential area on one side and the commercial shipping harbor on the other
Elements, materials and colors drawn from the the industrial maritime history of the site has been reused in creative ways throughout the design and space of the new park. Functions, materials and nature merge naturally and strategically, creating a respectful coherence without messing with the logic of the site. The dramatic drop of the terrain creates unique and exciting overhanging movement opportunities - and located around the highest point the main parkour facility becomes a very central element with an amazing view of Oslo fjord.
As a bufferzone at what is a historically complicated site, Bekkelagsbadet works way beyond expectations. The amazing result is only possible through the respectful interdisciplinary cooperation between the parties involved.
